The new gallery which opened in March 2020, a prestigious space over two floors, will offer the chance to view works of art by 19th and 20th Century British artists, on whose names the reputation of the company was founded, together with a regularly changing exhibition program focusing on the Contemporary Artists and Artist Estates represented by David Messum.
“The opportunity to re-open in St James’s is not a new one for Messum’s. We have previously operated from two galleries in this prestigious part of town and it is good to rejoin other well known art dealers whose businesses are set around the central core of Christie’s Auctioneers. The area invokes a sense that this is an enclave for the collector and the collectable".

The Studio is often referred to as the 'engine room' of Messum's. It is here that the vast Studio Estates are managed, cataloguing and photography of contemporary exhibitions is undertaken and Messum's library and archives are housed. It is home to the long established publishing arm of the business where all of the catalogues are painstakingly researched, written and designed - with over 15 new publications each year, it is always a hub of activity. Our online shop 'Messums Online' is ably managed from the Studio.
What many of our collectors may not know, is that we are fortunate to have an extensive exhibition space at the Studio. Here you will always find a wide selection of 19th and 20th Century paintings with a particular focus on the Newlyn School and British Impressionism. The Studio is open to view by private appointment and we welcome our collectors to come and explore the Artists Estates here at the Studio.
